1. Introduction & Acceptance
Welcome to VeriFive ("we," "our," or "us"). By accessing or using our website, mobile application, or services (collectively, the "Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
You must be at least 16 years old to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement.
2. The Meaning of VeriFive
VeriFive is more than just a name; it represents our core philosophy of "Verification by Five." We believe that true accountability comes from a trusted circle of peers. By having five verifiers (the "Veri-Five") oversee your progress, we create a robust social scaffolding that bridges the intention-action gap.
The abbreviation "V5" is derived from this concept—Verification by 5. Therefore, any reference to the "V5 Challenge" in our legacy materials or domain (v5challenge.com) refers specifically to the VeriFive platform and its methodology.
3. Service Description
VeriFive is a social accountability platform designed to help users achieve their goals through financial stakes and peer verification. Users ("Stakers") create commitments, stake virtual currency ("V-coins"), and invite friends ("Verifiers") to judge their progress.
V-coin is an internal virtual currency used solely within the V5 Challenge platform. It has no monetary value outside of the Service and cannot be exchanged for fiat currency or other cryptocurrencies, except as explicitly provided in our refund policy.
4. Account & Authentication
To access the Service, you must create an account using a valid Google account (OAuth). You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account.
You agree not to share your account credentials with others. We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your account if we suspect unauthorized use or violation of these Terms.
5. Creating Commitments
Users can select between two primary modes: Solo Quest and Group Challenge.
- Solo Quest: A personal challenge where you define a goal and stake V-coins. You can invite 0-5 Verifiers to judge your progress. If successful, your stake is returned to your wallet, subject to a 5% platform fee.
- Group Challenge: A micro-competition where you invite 1-5 friends to join a shared commitment. All participants stake an equal amount and acts simultaneously as Staker and Verifier. This follows a "Winner-Takes-All" model where the pool of forfeited stakes, minus a 5% platform fee, is distributed among the winners.
The commitment duration can be between 7 and 365 days. Once active, the commitment parameters (goal, duration, stake amount) cannot be changed. You have a 30-minute grace period after creation to edit or delete a commitment before it becomes locked.
6. V-coin Purchase & Staking
V-coins can be purchased using fiat currency via our third-party payment processor, Stripe. All purchases of V-coins are final and non-refundable, except as required by applicable consumer protection laws.
The platform distinguishes between two sources of V-coins in your wallet: Purchased V-coins (acquired through direct payment) and Bonus V-coins (earned through promotions, achievements, or welcome bonuses). Most platform activities, including staking on commitments, accept both types of V-coins equally. However, certain premium features require Purchased V-coins exclusively and do not accept Bonus V-coins.
When you create a commitment, the specified amount of V-coins is "staked" and temporarily deducted from your wallet balance. These V-coins are held in escrow by the platform until the commitment is concluded (either successfully completed or failed).
7. Daily Proof Submission
Stakers are required to submit daily proof of their progress. Proof must consist of a photo or video captured live through the app; uploading pre-recorded media from the gallery is not permitted to ensure authenticity.
Each proof submission must include the daily "Verification Phrase" provided by the app. Failure to submit proof by the daily deadline (based on your local time zone) constitutes a missed check-in and may result in a strike.
8. Verification & Voting Process
Verifiers are responsible for reviewing daily proofs submitted by the Staker. Verifiers have a 12-hour window to cast their vote: "PASS" or "FAIL".
The outcome of a daily check-in is determined by a simple majority vote (3 or more votes). If a Verifier fails to vote within the window, their vote is not counted. If no votes are cast, the system may auto-validate or flag the submission for review, at our discretion.
Verifiers agree to act in good faith. Malicious voting or collusion to unfairly fail or pass a Staker is a violation of these Terms.
9. Strike System & Failure
The VeriFive operates on a "3 Strikes" system. A strike is issued for:
- Failure to submit proof by the deadline.
- A majority "FAIL" vote from Verifiers on a submitted proof.
If a Staker accumulates 3 strikes during the commitment period, the commitment is deemed "FAILED". Upon failure, the staked V-coins are forfeited to the platform.
Stakers may have the option to trigger a "Redemption Vote" or use a "Waiver of Effort" (if available in their tier) to remove a strike, subject to specific game rules.
10. Rewards & V-coin Usage
If a commitment is successfully completed (i.e., the duration ends with fewer than 3 strikes), the staked V-coins are returned to the Staker's wallet. Additional bonus V-coins may be awarded based on the participation score and tier, at the platform's discretion.
Forfeited V-coins are removed from the ecosystem. V-coins cannot be withdrawn for cash. They can be used to stake on future commitments or to unlock premium features within the app.
11. User Content & Conduct
You retain ownership of the photos, videos, and text ("User Content") you submit. By submitting User Content, you grant VeriFive a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, display, and distribute your content solely for the purpose of operating the Service (e.g., showing proofs to Verifiers).
You agree not to submit content that is illegal, offensive, pornographic, threatening, or infringing on others' rights. We reserve the right to remove any content and suspend users who violate this policy.
Cheating, exploiting bugs, or attempting to circumvent the verification system is strictly prohibited.
12. Intellectual Property
The VeriFive platform, including its design, code, graphics, and "VeriFive" name, is the intellectual property of VeriFive. You may not copy, modify, or distribute our intellectual property without prior written consent.
13. Disclaimers & Limitations
The Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
We are not responsible for the decisions of your Verifiers. The social verification system is subjective, and you accept the risk that Verifiers may vote against you.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, VeriFive's liability for any claim related to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
14. Dispute Resolution
Any dispute arising from these Terms shall be resolved first through good faith negotiation. If negotiation fails, the dispute shall be resolved by binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association.
You agree to waive your right to a jury trial and to participate in a class action lawsuit.
15. Changes to Terms
We may modify these Terms at any time. We will provide notice of material changes via email or a prominent notice on the Service. Your continued use of the Service after such changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms.
16. AI Coaching
The AI Coaching feature provides automated guidance to help you achieve your goals. This premium feature charges V-Coins based on the length of the conversation. AI Coaching requires Purchased V-coins and does not accept Bonus V-coins. By using this feature, you agree to the deduction of Purchased V-Coins from your wallet for these services.
17. Community Safety & Content Policy
We are committed to maintaining a safe and productive environment for all users. All user-submitted content, including but not limited to proof photos, videos, audio transcripts, and commitment goals, must comply with our Community Safety Guide.
Violation of our safety standards will result in immediate enforcement actions, which may include:
- Immediate Content Deletion: Any content flagged by our automated moderation system or verified as a violation will be immediately soft-deleted and removed from all public and private feeds.
- Strike Warnings: Users will receive a formal warning notification via their Activity Log and registered email for the first and second violations. Each warning constitutes one "Strike."
- Permanent Account Ban & Forfeiture: Upon reaching three (3) strikes, the user account will be permanently banned. As a consequence of the ban, all active V-Coin balances, purchased or earned, are immediately forfeited and will not be refunded or transferred.
Appeals Process: If you believe your account has been wrongly banned due to a critical administrative error or AI misclassification, you may submit a one-time appeal by replying directly to the Account Banned notification email (replying to [email protected]). Your appeal must include truthful and detailed reasons for the reconsideration. A system administrator will review the case and work on it. The decision following this review is final.
We reserve the right to bypass the strike system and issue an immediate permanent ban for extreme violations, including but not limited to child safety harms or credible threats of violence.
